About Me

Dr. Amy Asher
Emotions and feelings are tricky little things. They sneak past logic and often wear
Emotions and feelings are tricky little things. They sneak past logic and often wear a distracting hat to pretend they’re something else — anger dressed as confidence, sadness posing as indifference, joy hiding beneath a nervous laugh, or anxiety impersonating anger.
Humans are emotionally complex creatures. Our feelings rarely arrive one at a time — they overlap, tangle, and contradict one another. And when the brain tries to process all these emotional layers at once, we often find ourselves physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted.
With the unexpected junctures in life, the choices can feel daunting, and we are swept up in a tide of emotion. The source might be family or work, the weight of a new promotion, the ache of a loss, or simply the chaos of rapid change. In those moments, we resort to reacting in situations when we wish we could respond with clarity and calm.
Public service has always been at the heart of my career. As a retired veteran, federal employee, and academic, I’ve served senior-level executive roles ranging across a wide spectrum of responsibilities. No matter the situation, age, or background, I am committed to offering trust, safety, and complete confidentiality. I believe that with compassion and understanding, healing and clarity can take root — and life can shift from simply being busy to truly being full.
